Saturday routines always began with a thorough house clean. From the skirting boards to the bathroom, hoovering and dusting, all to the sound of Bob Marley, Anita Baker or Fela Kuti. My dad often burnt an incense stick at the end to refresh the house and mark the completion of our house work. It’s funny how certain rituals stick with you throughout your life because till this very day, I love to clean MY home while listening to music and similarly, I love to light a candle.
